Health Insurance Information
Graduate Assistants (including Research and Teaching assistants)
Students are automatically enrolled in this insurance if they are hired as a Graduate Assistant. The information about the health insurance should come from the insurance provider in the beginning of the semester.
Please be aware that students also automatically receive emails about waiving the coverage. DO NOT waive the coverage if you intend to use your health insurance and do not have a second health insurance (e.g. through your parents or spouse).
Below you find links to MSU HR website, which provides a comprehensive information about GA health insurance:
- Student and Graduate Assistant Insurance Plans (provides enrollment and waiver periods and links to other information about the insurance)
- Graduate Assistant (GA) Health (provides eligibility criteria)
- Health Plan Design and Administration (provides brief overview of the insurance coverage
and links a comprehensive brochure with the descriptions of all eligible coverage
procedures)
Dental and Vision insurances
Graduate Assistants are eligible for discounted Dental and Vision insurances.
Students must enroll themselves during an open enrollment period indicated by each insurance.
Fellowship Recipients
Fellowships typically cover the standard health insurance plan offered by the university. Please connect with your fellowship provider to learn
about how the fellowship prefers to cover your health insurance.
